Waiting for the end // Open

Post by John Garrett on Sat Apr 04, 2015 8:00 pm

it wont be long, til I'm dead and gone, watch the fires rise under my skin, down to the bone, scorching my soul, nowhere to run

S.H.I.E.L.D, Fuck S.H.I.E.L.D! Garrett thought in rage as he fired his firearm in the training range, letting out his pent up rage toward the organization he once blindly put his loyalty to. Garrett had long since moved past blind loyalty to S.H.I.E.L.D, he saw the truth behind the organization, he was way more loyal to the organization than it was to him.

When Garrett needed this organizations help, they left him out to dry, they left him to die in a foreign country and the only excuse they had was sorry we can't get you out, yet when Coulson died, Fury moved heaven and earth to bring the man back. Garrett did not blame Coulson, but he sure as hell blamed Fury for what had happened to him.

Garrett could not wait for the day HYDRA rose up and burned this organization to the ground, this organization deserved to get stomped into the darkest pits of history to be forgotten but at the same time Garrett knew that his days were limited unless he could get his hands on the stuff that Fury used to revive Coulson. Garrett didn't so much care about surviving right now as he cared about bringing down retribution onto S.H.I.E.L.D.

The two things Garrett cared about were getting revenge on S.H.I.E.L.D and surviving, but revenge upon S.H.I.E.L.D was more important. Garrett would gladly accept his own demise if it meant he could get revenge upon the organization he had wasted most of his life for.

There would be collateral damage from the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D, but Garrett did not give a shit about that. He knew that many people would die when HYDRA rose up, and Garrett liked more than a few of those whom were scheduled for death.

Garrett considered Phil, Maria and Antoine to all be his friends, but he knew they would never go along with HYDRA, that was unfortunate, but in the end they were just collateral damage, paying for the sins of the organization they worked for.

Garrett continued to express his rage by shooting at training targets, just wishing he could put a bullet through the head of Fury. Once he was done with one magazine for his firearm, Garrett quickly reloaded his weapon and once again started shooting. Shooting stuff felt good.

Agent David Shuter
Some people create their own storms, then get upset when it rains

It had been a few days since David had finished his mission with Steve, and David was almost glad that his team had chosen that time to chill around them hub. Being with Steve.. well it had kept him on his toes.. more so than when he had a whole team to watch his back. He of course still trusted Evans, Triplett, Jones and Garrett with watching his back, though he was sure he would be trying to watch his own back a lot more.. it was good practice.

The down time at the Hub was much needed... though after a while it did get very boring. So that was when the SHIELD agent decided he needed some target practice. If you didn't keep up that skill, you lost it. Simple as that. So David made his way to the shooting range.

When he arrived he saw his team leader shooting the hell out of the targets and smiled to himself. If there was one thing John Garrett could do best, it was shoot the hell out of things.. he was just glad that man was on THEIR team. So David walked up beside his boss and pulled out his 930, starting to shoot some rounds in his target. "Good to see you sir" David said, attempting small talk with his boss.

Garrett had heard someone approaching him, but he did not give it any mind since he was in the Hub. If Garrett was on mission he would check who he was approaching him, but here in the Hub everyone was supposed to be his friend. Friend, Garrett thought with a silent chuckle, yeah S.H.I.E.L.D was his friend, it was such a great friend in his time of need.

Garrett only stopped shooting his weapon and turned around after he was finished with emptying another magazine, he then greeted the person whom walked up to him. Agent David Shuter if he remembered correctly, the newest addition to his team of insane specialists. When you need a door kicked down, Team Garrett was whom you deployed, this was a team known for violence, subtlety was simple not Garrett's thing.

Well thats ironic coming from the guy whom was playing spy hunter against himself. Garrett could do subtle rather well, he just didn't like it all that much.

"Agent Shuter, adjusting well to the team?" Garrett asked as he picked up another magazine and started to reload his weapon. Shuter was one of the replacement members of his team, out of Garrett's original team only Triplett remained, the other three had suffered unfortunate demise from Centipede after digging too deep. Garrett rather hoped that this team would not dig deep enough to necessitate crossing them off.

Garrett liked his team members, but revenge against S.H.I.E.L.D was more important and he would not let anything stand in his was for that. S.H.I.E.L.D would burn and Garrett knew that he would likely burn with it, but so be it.

Agent David Shuter
Some people create their own storms, then get upset when it rains

Agent John Garrett, in David's opinion, was a good man. While he did take a more up-forward approach to things, he got the job done and lets face it, with powers like David had, he needed a team like Garrett's. Lightning and storms were hard to use subtly, unless its a very stormy place. The SHIELD agent knew that he was a pawn used by Fury and even Garrett, yet it was the better option than being watched all the time by them... if life gives you lemons make lemonade and all the crap. Being a SHIELD agent was the only thing David could do with said powers.. save becoming a weather man.

When his boss continued the conversation with that question, David gave him a nod "It is the best place for me right now sir" he said, knowing Garret knew this to be true without explanation. It was hardly a secret that he had powers, and the best place to use them would be in a more 'shoot first ask questions later' team. "Triplett is a great partner to have in the field, and Evans is learning well." Not to mention Jones, who they could always rely on to get them out of the thick of things if things went sour.

He then turned the question back on his boss "How about you sir? gaining three new agents you don't know on your team all at once must be hard? If you don't mind me asking of course" He looked over with a small smile as he finished his clip and reloading, working on his speed. he was down to less than two seconds with his P30, but there was always room for improvement.

Garrett nodded in acknowledgement to David's statement that S.H.I.E.L.D was the best place for him, not that Garrett actually believed in that. S.H.I.E.L.D was the only option, the other option was sticking this kid into the Fridge to protect the public. This poor kid did not know what S.H.I.E.L.D was truly capable of, but Garrett knew. "Trip's a good man, just don't let him rope you into listening to his nerd talk." Garrett joked, in his team of specialist, Trip was the nerd of the team.

"Technically I only gained two agents whom I have no knowledge of, Trip and the girl Kelly, they know each other and he vouched for her." Garrett commented as he finished reloading his weapon and once more took aim and prepared fire his weapon. "You and Evans however, I have absolutely no clue about, but you two are proving yourself to be pretty competent." Garrett praised as he steadied himself, pulling the trigger of his firearm and watched the holes appear in the target.

"And Shater, stop calling me sir, I never was one for authority figures, just call me Garrett and think of me as the devil on your shoulder prodding you forward." Garrett joked before adding "Wait no, don't think of me as the devil, that would be offensive to the devil."

David chuckled softly at Garrett's warning not to let Triplett rope him into listening to his nerd talk and said " Itwould be a very educational experience, if not a little dull. As long as he keeps our equipment running, I won't complain." He began to fire his second clip into the target, trying to get used to tuning his storm/air sense so he could potentially sense what a bullet feels like coming towards him so he might be able to angle his body before it did real damage to him in combat... that was easier said than done.

When he learned Trip and Jones were close before hand, David smiled and said [color:0cbe=$ffcc00]"Well, two good looking agents like that.. I can see that being legitimate" While David was straight, he still knew the scale of male hotness, and Trip definitely fell under the 'good looking' section of the scale. Of course David had to create a new section of his own... electrifying. He then nodded when Garrett praised him and Evans "I am sure you read my file previously, so I thank you for taking the risk of having someone on the index on your team. I want to assure you that I have learned to control these powers and can channel them to my own will.. most of the time. I will not put anyone on the team in danger." He said seriously as he placed his last bullet right in the head of the target.

David yet again nodded at his boss and said "Sorry, i was taught top respect people with a gun, although since I have one as well, I guess I can lay off the sir's, mr Devil." he chuckled then quickly reloaded. he had one clip left after this one, then he would have to pause to reload them.

"Personally I never cared about education, I live by this rule, if you have a problem, a liberal amount of explosives will solve the problem." Garrett joked as he finished shooting yet another magazine of his weapon. How many magazines did he already go throught? Garrett asked himself mentally trying to remember the answer to that question.

When Garrett heard Shuter mention how Trip and Kelly were both good looking agents and them being legitimate, Garrett could not help but burst into laughter. It seems Shuter may have the wrong idea about the past of those two. Garrett made note to have a talk with Trip and Kelly about this possible misconception and make sure the team had the most amount of fun about it.

"You better not, putting the team in danger is my job." Garrett joked darkly, indeed most of the danger the team now a days encountered was actually Garrett's fault. Garrett was the one leading the team in the hunt for the Clairvoyant, oh how little did then know what he was really doing behind their back. "What did I say  about calling me the devil Shuter? It is offensive to the devil and considering the amount of time we spend around that dude we best keep him happy."

David smirked at Garrett's joke. Yup.. that fit his MO. So David decided to joke along "Or a powerful enough lightning bolt" That had solved a problem for him when he had first gained his powers.. his first life taken. While the joke was specified to that experience, David still felt a slight pang in his chest by that memory.. the one life he had not meant to take. All those lives taken would probably haunt him forever, but the first was always the worst.

David gave Garrett a very serious nod when he mentioned it was his job to put the team in danger and said "Well I wouldn't want to steal that pleasure from you Boss, it must be all the fun you get at your age" he said in a serious manor, though he was actually joking. Even though it was true it was him who always put them in danger.. since it was his job to order them what to do and where to go. In many ways it was Garrett's fault that he had to replace three of his team members, thought the ultimate fault rested with the Clairvoyant.

David finished his clip and quickly reloaded, and fired in quick succession, emptying his last clip in seconds. He then holstered his gun and picked up his discarding clips. He would soon go and refill them. He then said out of the blue "Remind me to ask that Agent Morse for some Melee training, I need to keep up my sword practice or else I will loose it." He preferred Kveykva to his p30 anyways. It required more skill than just aiming down the barrel of a gun and shooting.. plus it was more fun to practice.

"Yes indeed, lighting can be quite destructive against soft targets but explosives are much more useful against hard targets." Garrett commented, while the lighting power could certainly be useful, Garrett would still ask for explosives over lighting any day. Honest to god, Garrett just liked seeing stuff blow up, lighting just would not grant Garrett the satisfaction explosives gave him. Garrett did enjoy the fine art of making your own door with explosives, who needs real doors anyways?

"My age? Well kid, atleast it doesn't look like I just got off diapers kid." Garrett snarked back at the comment about his age, age was not a problem for Garrett, the problem Garrett had with his body was after all these years the injuries he got in Sarajevo are finally catching up to him. His internal organs are finally failing and technology while it still kept Garrett in his prime, it was only delaying his organ failure, he knew that the end would be soon if he did not find someway to fix those damn organs of his.

"Pretty sure Agent Morse would be busy most of the time, but when she has time I'll be sure to give you a mention." At the same time Garrett said Agent Morse with a slight hint of disdain, he never did like that woman. As eccentric and insane as Garrett was, Garrett's fighting methods were really conventional, he had a disdain for the more unconventional fighting styles. Sticks and swords, such antiquated weapons, whats next? Would he have to throw away all the guns and sling rocks as weapons instead? Garrett however did have to admit close quarter melee was more than enjoyable, he certainly did enjoy using a knife more than it was healthy.

David nodded absent mindedly at what Garrett had said. Big explosions were more Garrett's thin than David's. Again David liked things more up close. Hand to hand required more skill, and was always new, compared to just aiming with a big hunking gun and blowing shit up. "That is true boss, yet blowing things up leaves a bigger mess. I hate cleaning up after myself" He smirked, more to himself than to his boss. Cleaning up had never been his strong suit growing up. Although making a mess was quick and easy.. and David did like quick and easy. Except for when it involved certain things.. like women.

David had to admit, that was a nice blow dealt by Garrett, yet he left himself open for an even bigger one, and to not take advantage of that would be an insult more than the actual blow, so David smirked at his boss and said "You're right boss, you look like you are just about to go back on them" It was common knowledge that when people got older they lost control over their bladders and needed adult diapers.

David did not miss the little hint of disdain when he mentioned Agent Morse's name, and attributed it to the fact she liked hand to hand combat like David did, and not giant guns like Garrett did. Yet he looked over it and said "Thanks si-Garrett. I Would think she wouldn't mind getting in some training, as We are some of the only agents who specialize in melee combat, I doubt she has ever fought someone with a sword before.." He smiled to himself. Agent Morse was both talented and easy on the eyes, two things David liked in a woman.
